Instead of using a mint teabag, can I just sub a few sprigs of fresh mint? Or is there other stuff besides mint in a mint teabag?

I’ve just returned from India with a chest problem, either infection or asthma, as some of the big cities are very polluted. One of our guides was discussing Ayurvedic remedies at length one evening and outlining the balance of dishes etc. Your site is very helpful and I’ve been making the teas and oxymel. As it’s U.K. winter, I’m using dried sage but will use fresh later in the year. Lovely recipes too. Thanks.
One point you don’t mention: turmeric uptake in the body is apparently enhanced by adding black pepper and a little oil, straightforward when cooking but I put black pepper in the tea as well. Any thoughts?
